Teacher Workshops

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History provides several professional development opportunities, which are designed to provide educators at all levels a chance to deepen content knowledge and strengthen pedagogy in science and technology. Our hands-on, inquiry-based workshops address state and national learning standards, and allow you to customize topics for your own classroom. We offer workshops locally and through our outreach program to New Mexico teachers.

Beyond the Robot Shop: Robotics, Ideas, & Fun (elementary and mid-school)

Use LEGO MINDSTORM® robotics kits to design, build, program and test robots.

Radiation and Nuclear Energy (elementary and mid-school)

Learn from experts about atomic structure, radiation detection, and energy from nuclear reactions. Perform experiments that can be repeated in your classroom by students. Examine nuclear energy as an alternative fuel.

The Manhattan Project, the Cold War, and Beyond (mid-school and high school)

View exhibits and museum artifacts with our docents to help you bring this exciting and terrifying period of history to life in your classroom. Use first hand stories to supplement your curriculum.

Kids Camp

Kids have so many questions about the world – down to even the smallest parts. We’re here to answer them with fun, creative activities that will also nourish their imaginations and - who knows – maybe even foster a career in science or medicine. The Museum offers a mulititude of possibilities each winter, spring and summer to enrich your child's life.
