Support The Museum

Nuclear Gardening Club

Are you interested in gardening and landscaping?

Join us for a unique volunteer opportunity – an opportunity to {literally} help the Museum grow!

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History seeks garden hobbyists to join the Nuclear Gardening Club.  As a member of the Nuclear Gardening Club, you will team up with other volunteers to help maintain the Museum’s current landscaping and transform the 12-acre property into a welcoming space.  We are seeking volunteers who are willing, not only to roll up their sleeves, but also to help build a new volunteer program and work towards completing our landscaping.

Primary Duties:

  • Serve as a committee member of volunteer-led Nuclear Gardening Club
  • Work with other volunteers to water and care of existing plants on the property and to facilitate weed control efforts
  • In consultation with staff members, work as a team to raise funds and in-kind donations to complete the irrigation system, and obtain the landscaping materials and plants needed to complete the overall landscaping plans
  • Assist with installation of new landscaping plants and materials.  This may also include working with Boy Scouts as they complete their Eagle Projects

  • Interest in gardening, landscaping and working outdoors
  • Basic knowledge of plant care and landscape maintenance
  • Ability to represent the Museum in the community
  • Willingness to source materials and funds
  • Cooperative nature - the ability to work as part of a team and to accept instruction
  • Dependable and punctual
