Summer Camp 2021

Summer Camp, June 1st through August 6th

Register for Camp Camp Descriptions

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is thrilled to provide week-long, in-person, "Science is Everywhere" Summer Camps, June 1st through August 6th. Students Pre-K through 7th grade (rising into the 8th grade) can enroll in one, two, or all week-long camps, and they will experience exciting science and fun activities at the museum from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. See below for our 'Counselor In Training' (CIT) program for students who are 14-17 years of age.

Please note the two camps held after Memorial Day and July 4th are 4-day camps, hosted Tuesday through Friday, that will be held at a lower fee.

  • Five-day camps are $325 per child/per week
  • Four-day camps are $260 per child/per week

Our education team will divide camp topics into week-long camps that are multi-age collaborative camper experiences. The full-day camp programs run from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Before-care is available from 7:30-8:30 am and after-care from 3:30-5:30 pm. There is no additional cost for before- and after-care, and they are available regardless of the camper's use.

Each in person camp will maintain strict CDC safety protocols (where applicable), with small camp ratios. All campers and staff must wear face masks and pass a daily COVID-19 screening (as long as it is required by the New Mexico DOH).

We are thrilled to offer a sibling discount, as seen at registration, as well as a museum member discount of 10%.

Take advantage of a member discount on every camp if your child becomes a Neutron member or you purchase a family membership! CLICK HERE to learn more! For more information on a membership or to get your member promo code, please email jdolegowski@nuclearmuseum.org.

For more information on our "Science is Everywhere" Summer Camps, please email our Director of Education at lguida@nuclearmuseum.org.

Please note, if you register after May 14th, your child may not receive a summer camp t-shirt.

Counselor In Training Program

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History's 'Counselor In Training' (CIT) Program is a teen leadership program that builds leadership, interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills. Interested teens (14-17 years old) should apply by clicking the application link below and submitting a student resume to the museum's Director of Education, Lisa Guida at lguida@nuclearmuseum.org.

Counselor In Training Application

CIT applicants will be interviewed by Lisa and will receive mailed notification if accepted into the CIT program. This is an excellent leadership opportunity to add to any student's resume!

The cost for members is $150/week and the cost for non-members is $155.00/week. The training program week will be held during the June 1-4 camp session from 9-3:30. CITs can be dropped off at the museum as early as 7:30 am and picked up as late as 5:30 pm. Before and aftercare is free to CIT families as well. CITs are required to participate in a minimum of five weeks during the museum's "Science is Everywhere" Summer Camp schedule. The five weeks include the June 1-4 camp for training, and the other four camps can be chosen by the CIT.

*Please note CIT applicants must be at least a rising 9th grader, ages 14-17.

Because the program is competitive, and spaces are limited there is a deadline for applications of April 16, 2021. Any applications received after the deadline will still be reviewed, however, availability and/or likelihood of acceptance may be significantly reduced.
