Created by Larry Sheffield and Trent DiGiulio, the 28-minute documentary discusses how Alamogordo was chosen as the site for atomic bomb testing at what became the Trinity Site on what is now White Sands Missile Range.
Larry L. Sheffield is an award-winning documentary film director and producer, noted for his work on films focused on the history of the Manhattan Project and the Cold War. His documentaries include Oppenheimer After Trinity and Alamogordo, Center of the World, Trinity 1945. Sheffield, who was raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico, often uses rare footage, photographs, and compelling interviews to bring historical events to life. He co-directed the film The Atomic Rocketeer, which sheds light on the story of Wernher von Braun and Operation Paperclip. Beyond filmmaking, Sheffield has a background in real estate development, banking, and was previously a State Representative in New Mexico.
