Open Late the Last Thursday of Each Month!

You have asked, and we have listened! By popular demand, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History will stay open until 8:00 pm on the last Thursday of each month! This month, July 25, will be the perfect time to come and visit the museum any time between 9 am and 8 pm.

We are also excited to offer the first 50 visitors after 5 pm, anyone visiting the museum on July 25 past 5 pm, a FREE scientist stress ball!

"Science is Everywhere" Summer Camp - May 28 through August 9

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is pleased to offer week-long, themed camp for summer 2019. These camps are geared to campers Pre-K and Kindergarten through 7th grades. Sessions include "Foodie Science", "STEMinists: Geosciences Edition", Got Game?", "Movie Magic" and many more!

Smithsonian Channel's "The Day We Walked on the Moon" - July 20

The new documentary, THE DAY WE WALKED ON THE MOON, will be screened in nearly 70 Smithsonian Institution-affiliated museums across the country on 50th anniversary of the Moon landing. Half a century after humanity’s historic first step on the Moon, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is hosting a screening of Smithsonian Channel’s THE DAY WE WALKED ON THE MOON. These special screenings will take place on Saturday, July 20th. This documentary will run at 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:00 pm.

BUFF: The B-52 Story - June 8 through December 29

Join us as we tell the story of the longest serving aircraft in United States military in the special exhibition, “BUFF: The B-52 Story,” on display June 8 through December 29, 2019. This temporary exhibition explores this iconic Boeing aircraft’s past, present and future as an American strategic bomber.
