This matchbook cover advertises the Uranium Café in Grants, New Mexico as having the "Finest American, Chinese and Mexican Dishes." This café was located along Route 66 and was named for Grants' main industry at the time. Uranium mining played a huge economic role in Grants from 1950, when uranium ore was discovered in the area, until the 1980s. The Uranium Café was operational under this name from the 1950s to the 1970s and was known for its "Yellow Cake Special" (a stack of pancakes).
