Mission

Overview

The primary role of the Development Associate position is to assist the Director of Development and the Development department at the Nuclear Museum with various tasks including but not limited to membership management and recruitment, assisting with membership event planning and execution, data entry and recognitions for donations, data entry and management of Einstein Gala ticket and table sales, and assisting with the annual Einstein Gala Silent Auction.

These duties include, but are not limited to, membership and donation data entry and management, record maintenance, and member/donor correspondence, oversight, and recognition. This position will assist in other development program efforts, such as mailings and clerical support, as needed. They will also provide direct customer service to member and donor prospects and assist with planning and executing member events.

The Development Associate will attend outreach events, representing the museum as a means of membership recruitment and facility rental promotions. Occasional evening and weekend event attendance will be required. This position will be cross-trained to serve as a backup for facility rental management.

This position will assist with the Einstein Gala Silent and Live Auction. The role includes procuring items, record keeping, donation recognition, data entry and photography coordination, and the auction's transport and setup/break down. Procurement includes research, communication, and arranging for delivery or physically picking up items from local businesses.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Import member and donor information into the database
  • Ensure the maintenance of clean data and up-to-date records
  • Work with the Director of Finance and Director of Development to ensure accurate record-keeping
  • Provide email and phone correspondence with members and donors
  • Assist the Event and Facility Rental Coordinator with rental management
  • Attend all Museum member and public events outside of regular business hours
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of clients in a diverse community and help plan events to bring different clients to the museum.
  • Skills with use of current technology and applications. Must be tech-savvy and understand and solve problems as they arise on the spot with technology.
  • Ability to focus with high attention to details of events, constantly juggling multiple events at a time in various stages of development and implementation.
  • Ability to provide excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Strong written composition skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and quick turnaround solutions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Physical ability to complete rental set-ups and teardowns, such as chair set-up, moving tables, etc., and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to determine a floor plan for an event and implement it.
  • Ability to work with caterers, food trucks, liquor providers, florists, etc.

  • Access to reliable transportation to attend outreach events and to pick up silent auction items

Desired Attributes:

Reports to: Director of Development

Basic Work Week: The position is full-time, non-exempt hourly, 40 hours/week. Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision after 90 days, matching 401K after six months. Paid sick leave, vacation, and seven paid holidays. Pay starting at $38,000.
