The Nuclear Museum is Open to the Public

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is open to the public. For more information, please click here. As of Friday, August 20th, masks are required to be worn inside the museum, regardless of vaccination status, as per NM public health order.

Einstein Express

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History’s Einstein Express Program offers field trip busing assistance to Title 1 public schools in Albuquerque and the surrounding area. The program provides up to two buses (at the same time) per school per year for transportation to and from the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History.

Nuclear Science Week

Nuclear Science Week (NSW) is a national, broadly observed week-long celebration to focus local, regional, national and international interest in all aspects of nuclear science. Nuclear Science Week 2021 will take place the week of October 18-22. NSW 2021 will be a virtual event with engaging hands-on activities and experiments, live and recorded events, supply packs to pick up from the museum to follow along with activities from, and more!

Discover STEAM Week

Discover STEM Week is an annual celebration of all things STEM - science, technology, engineering, and math. During this wonderful event, date TBD, the museum hosts students in grades 4-8 for hands-on activities related STEM through fun and engaging field trips and activities at the museum. Discover STEM Week typically takes place in February. Field trips during this time include free busing and admission for accepted groups thanks to the generous support of our donors.

Applications for Discover STEAM Week 2022 will be available online in December of 2021.


Field Trips & Outreach

The Museum offers hands-on programs and activities that can be customized to grade level and curriculum. All programs align with the New Mexico Education Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards and are dedicated to the topics of energy, forces, nuclear radiation and the history of nuclear science. Programs at the Museum may be enhanced with self-guided or docent-guided tours.
