Discover STEAM Day

Families Invited to Explore Hands-On Science and Engineering

A day of family fun where engineering meets science with hands-on experiments!

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History invites families to explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) through experimentation and engaging, hands-on activities directed by local engineers, physicists, and technicians from organizations such as the local Tuskegee Airmen Chapter and the University of New Mexico.

Discover STEAM Day will be held from 10 am –3 pm on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History on 601 Eubank Boulevard SE 87123

There will be activities that allow children to test their flying skills on flight simulators, experience rocket science, have fun with robotics, experience the excitement of dancing electricity with Tesla Coils, make art using reclaimed materials, enjoy ice cream made with liquid nitrogen, and more. All activities will be fun and kid-friendly.

“This annual event is a great way to inspire kids to explore STEAM fields,” said Lisa Guida, Director of Education at the Museum of Nuclear Science & History. “We have planned activities that will bring science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to life and give participants the room to be curious and explore new things.”

Participation in the interactive activities will be rewarded with a custom STEAM Day button. The event is included with museum admission, and all museum members are free. Admission prices, and more information, can be found at nuclearmuseum.org.
